Elderly Drivers Report

A recent report from the UK’s Department for Transport reveals that while elderly drivers (aged 70 and above) are statistically among the safest on the road, they face increasing challenges related to mobility, reaction times, and vehicle technology.

The study found that drivers over 80 are less likely to be involved in high-speed collisions, but more vulnerable in complex traffic environments such as roundabouts and multi-lane junctions. Experts suggest that refresher courses and vehicle adaptations—like larger displays and simplified controls—could help older drivers maintain independence while improving road safety.
