Reporting Potholes

You can report potholes in Cambridgeshire directly to Cambridgeshire County Council using their online highways fault reporting tool. Dangerous potholes should be phoned in immediately. Click Report a highways fault in Cambridgeshire

How to report a pothole in Cambridgeshire
1. Use the official Cambridgeshire County Council reporting tool
  • The council asks residents to report non‑dangerous potholes through their online map-based system.

  • You zoom in on the map, drop a pin on the exact location, and complete a short form.

  • You can upload a photo and add details such as approximate depth (helpful for prioritisation).

  • Reports are assessed within 10 working days.

2. Reporting dangerous potholes (urgent hazards)
  • If the pothole poses an immediate danger to road users, the council provides separate emergency guidance and asks you to report it as a highways emergency.

3. If the pothole is on a major road (motorways or some A‑roads)
  • These are managed by National Highways, not the county council.

  • You can report via their 24‑hour line or email.

5. Helpful tips when reporting
  • Provide the road name, nearest postcode, and precise location.

  • Add a photo if safe to do so.

  • Avoid stepping into the road to measure or photograph the defect.
